The functional state of the driver plays an important role in ensuring road safety. While driving this indicator is affected by a significant number of factors. One of these is mountain traffic conditions. Their feature is the increased complexity of the driver's working conditions.

Driver is the main part of system «driver – vehicle – road – environment». Taking into account the tendencies of the industrial and tourist industries developing, it`s necessary to satisfy passenger transportation needs. The most of these transportations are carried out by buses. Therefore is a problem of improving the passenger transportation quality and driver`s reliability.

This work elucidates actuality of an issue of investigation of driver’s functional state. It is one of the main components which has to be taken into account during traffic management and graphics of driver’s activity schedule. Reduction of driver’s functional state leads to incorrect actions in tricky situations and even to road accidents with different consequences. Changes of functional state depend of many factors. One of the most important is driver’s fatigue as a result of various influences.
