Item Comparative analysis of novel compact and usual smooth 90-degree twists(Видавництво Національного університету "Львівська політехніка", 2009) Kirilenko, A. A.; Kulik, D. Yu.; Rud, L. A.; Sverdlenko, A. E.Two types of compact 90-degree twists whose transformer sections are square waveguides with two square or stepped ridges are considered. Twist electromagnetic models are based on the mode matching and generalized scattering matrix techniques. Good agreements between calculated and experimentally measured characteristics of manufactured prototypes of the both type twists in the 23×10 mm waveguide are demonstrated. On the base of specially studies carried out, it is shown that, at close or even better performance, the lengths of proposed twists are ten and more times less than the ones of conventional smooth twists.Item Control of the radiation characteristics of a leaky-wave antenna by manipulation of the grating profile(Видавництво Національного університету "Львівська політехніка", 2009) Steshenko, S. O.; Kirilenko, A. A.A leaky-wave antenna consisting of a lamellar grating of finite extent fed by a planar dielectric waveguide is considered. The mathematical model of the antenna is improved for calculating of the apertures with large size. The possibilities of the radiation characteristics control by choosing of grating profile with linear variation of the groove depths are investigated.Item Resonance of total rejection produced by a thin vertical stepped conductor in rectangular waveguide(Видавництво Національного університету "Львівська політехніка", 2009) Kirilenko, A. A.; Prikolotin, S. A.The problem of the dominant ТЕ10 mode diffraction by a thin step bended metallic bar placed in a rectangular waveguide (fig. 1) is considered. Placing such a bar into rectangular waveguide cross-section affects on the appearance of the TE10 mode total reflection resonance in the single mode frequency band. Influence of the bar geometrical dimensions on the frequency and Q factor of resonances was studied. Practical recommendations for the choice of sizes of bar that are necessary to provide the desired resonance frequency and bandwidth are given.
