Drawing capitals of classical orders at the early stages of architectural activity

The research outlines the importance and value of drawing architectural details (capitals of classical orders) during the process of studying architecture. It describes the successive stages of drawing capitals, provides graphical schemes of their construction and emphasizes the key features of modeling capitals of Tuscan, Doric, Ionic and Corinthian orders.

Environmental impact assessment of combustible wastes utilization in rotary cement kilns

This study focuses on the environmental impact assessment of the coal combustion and its substitution by alternative fuels from combustible wastes during Portland cement clinker sinterization in rotary cement kiln. Environmental impact assessment was carried out based on the fuels chemical composition and operating parameters of a rotary cement kiln in accordance with EURITS and IMPACT 2002+ methods.

Conception of socio-cultural identity in the modern theory of architecture

In this paper methodologically substantiate the study of the architectural environment of a modern city by its belonging to different socio-cultural communities as a cultural resource in situation of multiculturalism and globalization. The aim of the research was to provide rationalization for using the concept of socio-cultural identity as the key to system view on the problem of humanization of the modern city’s environment. The study concluded that the architectural environment should be seen as a major unifying force that opposes the trend of globalization and a major resource for the coexistence of the local socio-cultural differences.

Mathematical model of stress and deformation state of glued anchorage of reinforcement bars in cases of exposure short and long term loading

The solution of axisymmetric task of the theory of elasticity for the case of embedment of reinforcement bars into concrete of crescent type by acrylic glues, allowing to determine tensions and deformations both on contacts glueanchor, glue-concrete and in the concrete body has been proposed. It has been taken into account that at long-term loading the behaviour of acrylic glues co-ordinates the linear theory of creep. The results of calculation experiment are presented.

New urban contexts for architecture. Infrastructure zone as platform for new kind of public space

Due to city fragmentation, urban growth and simultaneous demand for flexible and multifunctionally programmed buildings- there is new kind of context the architecture nowadays has to deal with in modern cities. Architecture territory spreads on sites which have never been considered before: infrastructure nodes, postindustrial brownfields, highways surroundings, underground garages and passages, bridges and viaducts, roofs and of existing buildings, rail tracks, etc. In this paper- basing on chosen realized projects and design concepts- were analyzed relations between architecture and such uncommon “aggressive” context.
Modern concretes based on the Rapid-Hardening Portland cement compositions

In the paper results of testing of building and technical properties of High Performance Concretes (HPC) based on the Rapid-Hardening Portland cement compositions with complex chemical admixtures are shown. It was observed, that strength of developed concretes after 2; 7 and 28 days of hardening is respectively 54.4; 60.1 and 80.9 MPa, what gives the reason to determine these materials to Rapid-Hardening and High Strength Concretes. The modern concretes based on the Rapid-Hardening Portland cement compositions are characterized by better construction and technical properties, which provide durability of constructions in different conditions.

The influence of ultrafine supplementary cementitious materials on the properties of Portland cements

This paper describes the influence of ultrafine supplementary cementitious materials (SCM's) on the properties of Portland Cements. The combined using of ultrafine ground SCM's with polycarboxylate superplasticizer allows to obtain high flowability, physical and mechanical properties of Portland cements. Advanced interpretation of the ultrafine (SCM's) and their surface activity contributes the most complete realization of potential in binding properties of new types of Portland cements and producing High Performance Concretes on their base.
Walkways analysis of “Złote Tarasy” mall in Warsaw

Since their appearance and till today shopping malls have undergone significant transformations. This is reflected in contemporary studies where malls are divided into four generations. In this paper the walkways of “Złote Tarasy” mall in Warsaw are analyzed. The mall belongs to the fourth generation and is a prominent representative of the modern approach to malls construction. Based on our studies certain principles and features of architectural design of fourth generation malls’ walkways where formulated. These results can be used in designing this type of malls.

Vibrations of axially compressed sandwich beam due to a moving force

The dynamic response of a finite, simply supported axially compressed sandwich beam subject to a force moving with a constant velocity is investigated. The classical solution has a form of an infinite series. The main goal of this paper is to present that the aperiodic part of the solution can be presented in a closed form instead of an infinite series. The shown method of finding the solution when the form is closed is based on the observation that the solution of the system of partial differential equations in the form of an infinite series is also a solution of an appropriate system of ordinary differential equations. The closed solutions take different forms depending on the velocity v of the moving force is smaller or bigger than the shear-wave velocity of the beam. The dynamic response of the sandwich beam under moving force is very important solution. It is because that it can be used also in order to find the solution for other types of moving loads.
Physical and chemical processes of structure formation of light-weight plugging mortar

Investigations of the processes of structure formation by means of X-ray diffraction, electronic microscopy and differencially-thermal analysis are implemented. The influence of active mineral additives of metakaolin and zeolite on the properties of the plugging mortar and their interaction with the portlancement minerals are established.
On the calculation forces from the regulation forces in the structure with variable design scheme

The expressions to determine forces from the regulation forces in the "redundant" linkage of the design scheme that meets the steel structure at some reconstruction stage is presents. These forces are defined by linear combination of unit basic forces that obtained from solving a matrix system of equations finite element method with multiple right parts for the basic design scheme. Factors of the linear combination of unit basic forces proposed to determine by system of linear equations that taking account peculiarities of forces.
On the set of variants of bar structures for topology optimization problem

Compositional analysis of Gothic architecture in Europe and Ukraine
