For the first time, monuments are classified according to the stages of development of classicism and it is described the principles of organization of palace structures of the late 18th century. It is considered the historical and sociopolitical preconditions for the establishment of palace complexes of that period. In the article the author gives examples of palace buildings and follows their architecturalplanning and functional-spatial features.
