Terminological units were divided into three thematic groups, within each lexical-semantic subgroups were singled, which makes it possible to trace the process of formation and modern functioning of the terms. It was discovered that a number of terms were formed on a basis of the existing in language lexical units of general vocabulary or narrow terminology vocabulary, including mathematical, physical, computer, publishing terminology; it was traced, that the creation of new nominative unit occurs in case of change of denotatum based on metaphorical or metonymic transfer of meanings.
