Flow velocity measurement in open channels using computer vision
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Muran, R. O.; National university of water and environmental engineering
In this paper author describes new approach to flow velocity measurement in open channels by utilizing components of computer vision. Placing an obstacle in the open channel creates different turbulence zones around it, and one of them is a wave in front of an obstacle. By connecting the height of the wave in front of an artificial obstacle with flow velocity in the open channel author uses methods of computer vision for experimental proves of suggested method credibility.

Application of capacity sensors for monitoring the quality of drinking water
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Vanko, Volodymyr; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The research of a model solution and two different water samples using a capacitance plane converter is considered. Based on the critical analysis of the results, an approach based on the operator method is proposed. This allows, together with the imitative method, to obtain more complete information about the samples under study.

Technique for determining the properties of heat carrier for the automated design of measuring systems of thermal energy
    (Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Slabyk, O. M.; Matiko, F. D.; Lesovoy, L. V.; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The techniques for determining the properties of heat carrier (water, water vapor) for the measuring systems of thermal energy amount are analyzed. The technique for evaluating the uncertainty of the enthalpy of water (water vapor) is improved in order to apply it for measuring systems design.

Support for the functioning of the gas turbine cogeneration system on biogas fuele
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Chaikovskaya, Eugene; ONPU
The structural scheme of maintenance of the network water temperature in the conditions of operation of the gas turbine cogeneration system on biogas fuel with the use of a heat pump for which a fermented wort is a low-energy source of energy is proposed. Making decisions on the change of the number of plates of the heat utilizer when measuring the temperature of the gases at the inlet to the heat utilizer and the temperature of the return water allows, for example, to operate a cogeneration system with a capacity of 65.5 MW to reduce the cost price of the produced energy to 20-30%.

Synthesis of a speed regulator of a mobile object by method of placement of poles
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Nakonechnyj, M. V.; Stepanyak, M. V.; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The features of the synthesis of regulators by placing poles in a given area of the plane of the roots of the characteristic equation of a closed system are considered. In the environment of MATLAB (Simulink) the PI regulator was synthesized using the method of placement of the poles in a given region of the complex plane of the roots and a simulation of the system of automatic control of the speed of motion of the moving object using the synthesized regulator was carried out.

On automation of mobile missile systems control and employment
    (Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Serbin, V. V.; Taraskin, N. V.; Uvarova, A. A.; Yuzhnoye State Design Office
Creation of missile units automated control systems is at present one of the most topical developments for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In this respect, it is necessary to solve a great number of complex problems – selection of optimal characteristics of automation equipment and communication means, ensuring required indices of control stability et al. A separate important problematics on creating the missile units automated control systems is ensuring safety of control and employment of a missile system. The article deals with a general approach to implementation of automated control and monitoring system of missile system fire means.

Single thruster control of the ion beam shepherd satellite to maintain its relative position
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Khoroshylov, S. V.; Institute of Technical Mechanics NASU & SSAU
The “ion beam shepherd” is a recently proposed concept for removing space debris in a contactless manner. A shepherd satellite must be controlled to move at a certain small distance in front of a space debris object during the de-orbiting phase. Because of the considerable duration of this phase, the propellant consumption is a key requirement for the control design. In this presentation, the in-plane relative position of the shepherd is maintained using a small thrust variation of the compensation thruster. To control the IBS relative motion in a direction perpendicular to the orbit plane, a small variation of the yaw angle is used. The estimations show that this control strategy is more efficient in terms of propellant consumption than the conventional approach with multiple chemical thrusters.

Neural network approach to direct parameter adaptation of longitudinal autopilots
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2018-09-18) Azarskov, V. N.; Zhiteckii, L. S.; Nikolaienko, S. A.; Manziuk, M. S.; Volkov, Yu. N.; National Aviation University; Int. Centre of Information Technologies and Systems
An improvement of longitudinal autopilots consisting of the digital PI and P controllers is addressed in this paper. In order to achieve a good performance of these autopilots a direct adaptation of their three parameters is proposed. To this end, the two-circuit feedback is added by the feedforward circuit containing a neural network which needs to be trained offline. The input signals of this neural network correspond to the airspeed and the altitude of an aircraft whereas its output signals are the three controller parameters to be adjusted if flight regime changes. The behavior of a new longitudinal autopilot is studied by simulation experiments.
