We propose a method for the study of unsteady temperature fields with heat flux relaxation. The
method is based on the theory of R-functions. Replacing the time derivatives by finite differences the problem is reduced to a sequence of steady-state heat conduction problems. With the use of R-functions built structure to address these problems. Unknown functions of the structure is determined based on variational or projection methods.
