Since their appearance and till today shopping
malls have undergone significant transformations. This is
reflected in contemporary studies where malls are divided into
four generations. In this paper the walkways of “Złote Tarasy”
mall in Warsaw are analyzed. The mall belongs to the fourth
generation and is a prominent representative of the modern
approach to malls construction. Based on our studies certain
principles and features of architectural design of fourth
generation malls’ walkways where formulated. These results
can be used in designing this type of malls.
