Audio Reading Assistant for Visually Impaired People
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2023-02-28) Chypak, Yurii; Morozov, Yuriy; Lviv Polytechnic National University
This paper describes an Android mobile phone application designed for blind or visually impaired people. The main aim of this system is to create an automatic text-reading assistant using the hardware capabilities of a mobile phone associated with innovative algorithms. The Android platform was chosen for people who already have a mobile phone and do not need to buy new hardware. Four key technologies are required: camera capture, text detection, speech synthesis, and voice detection. Moreover, a voice recognition subsystem has been created that meets the needs of blind users, allowing them to effectively control the application by voice. It requires three key technologies: voice capture over the embedded microphone, speech-to-text, and user request interpretation. As a result, the application for an Android platform was developed based on these technologies.

Speech Models Training Technologies Comparison Using Word Error Rate
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2023-02-28) Yakubovskyi, Roman; Morozov, Yuriy; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The main purpose of this work is to analyze and compare several technologies used for training speech models, including traditional approaches as Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) and more recent methods as Deep Neural Networks (DNNs). The technologies have been explained and compared using word error rate metric based on the input of 1000 words by a user with 15 decibel background noise. Word error rate metric has been explained and calculated. Potential replacements for compared technologies have been provided, including: Attention-based, Generative, Sparse and Quantum-inspired models. Pros and cons of those techniques as a potential replacement have been analyzed and listed. Data analyzing tools and methods have been explained and most common datasets used for HMM and DNN technologies have been described. Real life usage examples of both methods have been provided and systems based on them have been analyzed.

Investigation of wireless pulse oximeters for smartphone-based remote monitoring of lung health
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2020) Melnyk, Anatoliy; Morozov, Yuriy; Havano, Bohdan; Hupalo, Petro; Lviv Polytechnic National University; The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin
Coronavirus has the greatest effect on the human lungs. This is why lungs of patients with COVID 19 require constant medical monitoring. One of the tools for the lungs condition monitoring is based on the wireless pulse oximeters connected to smartphones. The re is an attempt to analyze the types of pulse oximeters, their technical characteristics, principles of operation and basic requirements for these measuring instruments in the article. According to this study, the most effective pulse oximeters for 24/7 monitoring of lung function were selected. Principles of pulse oximeter functioning and mathematical basis of its operation have been described. The criteria for pulse oximeter selection have been determined, and comparative analysis of pulse oximeters with wireless communication has been conducted.

Modular network interface for distributed information navigation systems
(Publishing House of Lviv Polytechnic National University, 2014) Pasternak, Iryna; Morozov, Yuriy
A modular approach providing unification by dividing a network interface into the universal and special parts in the context of distributed information navigation systems is proposed. The main principles of such approach and its software implementation are considered in the article. It is shown that the efficiency of the modular structure of the interface of distributed navigation systems, including the development time and speed of data processing, depends on the techniques used for their implementation and tools of object-oriented technologies.
