Item Management efficiency for certain types of plastic waste(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2023-02-28) Mykhailenko, Vladyslav; Shelinhovskyi, Dmytro; Safranov, Tamerlan; Odessa State Environmental UniversityThe issue of segregating plastic waste from the general stream of municipal solid waste and its recycling and disposal is a pressing environmental and socio-economic problem. Given that existing plastic waste recycling facilities in Ukraine are underutilized and partially operate on imported raw materials, the problem of separating and processing certain types of plastic waste from Ukraine's overall solid waste flow is extremely urgent. Plastic wastes are categorized by disposal complexity into three groups: 1.With good properties (clean, sorted, easily disposed of, and up to 90% of similar materials can be used during recycling); 2. With medium properties (containing a certain amount of pollutants, that require sorting, and their processing involves additional costs such as selection, washing, etc., resulting in only 20-30% of their initial quantity being recycled); 3. Difficult-to-dispose wastes (heavily contaminated and mixed, their processing is often not cost-effective). Polyethylene is one of the most common types of plastic wastes in Ukraine, accounting for 34% of all plastic waste. It was discovered that low-pressure or high-density polyethylene is one of the most marketable types of secondary raw materials in Ukraine, making the separation and collection of this type of plastic waste economically beneficial. The aim of the study is to justify the possibilities of extracting and disposing of plastic waste from the flow of municipal solid wastes in specific cities of Ukraine. This has been implemented by the public organization "City of the Future" in partnership with the Odesa State Environmental University.Item Legislative and administrative approaches to household solid waste management(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2023-02-28) Struchok, Volodymyr; Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical UniversityThe evolution and content of the Ukrainian Laws “On Waste”, “On Strategic Ecological Valuation”, “On Waste Management” as key documents of the national legislative base regarding the treatment and management of waste, including household, on the subject of their ability to provide administration solutions to growing problems in the specified field of activity are investigated. In particular, it is established that the evolution of the title of the executive power central body (CBEP) in the current Law of Ukraine “On Waste”, which is at present the main one in Ukraine regarding household waste (HW) management, has proceeded from rather specific to quite blurred parallel to the significant increase of problems in the sphere of HW treatment, specific sources of funding of the above-mentioned treatment have not been prescribed at the state level. In the procedure of strategic ecological valuation (SEV) of the state planning documents (SPD), a large number of authorities at all stages of customer valuation (executive power body, local government) and non-availability of participation of the rest of SEV individuals (executive power central bodies (CBEP), regional state administration (RSA), public) at the final stages, particularly, at such important one as monitoring the consequences SPD execution for the environment and public health is determined. The dependence of the flow depth of HW processing from financing and implementation of regional and local waste management plans is proved. Schemes of management and HW treatment are given, and their functioning, in particular, the essence of HW management, is investigated. It is established that at this stage of the country's life for the next seven years, there are no necessary sources for funding the investment programs in HW management. Therefore, it is reasonable to attract budget funds, contributions from investors and grants from the countries of the European Union and the world.The ways to solve the problems in waste management are proposed.Item Циркулярна економіка – основа сталого розвитку підприємств(Видавництво Національного університету “Львівська політехніка”, 2022-03-01) Горбаль, Н. Проаналізовано стан поводження із ресурсами в Україні та ЄС, зокрема із відходами. Встановлено, що у сфері поводження з відходами Україна істотно відстає від розвинених європейських країн. Проаналізовано нову політику ЄС і політику України у сфері циркулярної економіки. Враховуючи кращі європейські практики, надано рекомендації щодо переходу України від традиційної (лінійної) економіки до циркулярної економіки. Встановлено, що загалом політика України у сфері циркулярної економіки має формуватися і реалізовуватися комплексно в контексті глобальних трендів.Item Composting as one of the prospective methods of recycling the organic component of municipal solid waste(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-24) Storoshchuk, Ulana; Malovanyy, Myroslav; Tymchuk, Ivan; Lviv Polytechnic National UniversityIn the conditions of constant deterioration of the environment, municipal solid waste management (MSW) in Ukraine remains one of the most pressing challenges in environmental safety because of its significant accumulation in landfills and the lack of effective mechanisms for its disposal. Approximately 40–50 % of municipal solid waste is organic, so the removal of this part of waste from landfills through composting and conversion of waste into secondary material resources will significantly reduce the environmental load on existing and potentially planned landfills. Therefore, the choice of promising technologies for the disposal of organic waste is one of the major tasks to ensure environmental safety. One of the effective strategies for dealing with excessive amounts of organic waste and one of the best and most affordable technologies for the waste recycling system is composting.Item Waste management problems in the Ternopil region(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-24) Struchok, Volodymyr; Ternopil Technical National University named after Ivan PulyuyThe National Strategy and the National Waste Management Plan in Ukraine until 2030, the regional program for solid waste management in the Ternopil region for 2018– 2020 on the reality of conducting key infrastructure measures and achieving the desired result for society are studied. S.; Національний університет “Львівська політехніка”; Lviv Polytechnic National UniversityДоведено, що неефективне управління відходами в Україні, що є, зокрема, наслідком існуючої лінійної моделі економіки, створює значні ризики для навколишнього середовища і населення. Це актуалізує імплементацію моделі циркулярної економіки, яка передбачає енергозбереження, регенеративне екологічно чисте споживання і виробництво, за прикладом ЄС, що є глобальним лідером із її впровадження. Україні в умовах євроінтеграції запропоновано скористатись вже напрацьованою в ЄС методикою, чітким алгоритмом імплементації циркулярної економіки, а також успішними прикладами міжнародних компаній. При цьому критичними визнано роль держави, чітку стратегію впровадження циркулярних принципів (в Україні вже втілюються окремі законодавчі ініціативи) та кардинальну зміну суспільних цінностей.Item Analysis of the environmental impact of unsorted cullet(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-03-20) Hurets, Larysa; Kotolevets, Anastasiia; Miakaieva, Hanna; Miakaiev, Oleksandr; Sumy State UniversityPrediction of cullet accumulation at municipal solid waste landfills was carried out by linear and multiple regression methods. Over time, the amount of waste at the landfills will increase and the soil condition will deteriorate due to Na+ leaching This is confirmed by the experimental study of leaching of sodium ions from the cullet surface of different fractions with pure water and solutions with pH = 4.8 and pH = 9.2.Item Research on the morphological composition of solid domestic waste of the city of Khorol in Poltava region(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Holik, Yurii; Illiash, Oksana; Chukhlib, Yuliia; Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk UniversityThe article presents the results of the research on the morphological composition of solid domestic waste of the city of Khorol in Poltava region. A brief sequence of research is given. The comparison of the results with the known data on the morphological composition of solid domestic waste characteristic of the settlements in Poltava region is carried out. The conclusions about the results of the conducted research are formulated.
