In this paper I critique and amend Hassoun and Kriegel’s argument for the moral permissibility of infanticide. I argue
that the original case is greatly strengthened by introducing temporal considerations. The argument is intended not to show the permissibility of infanticide, but rather that there are underlying problems in our understanding of either
consciousness, morality or both.
