Abstract
The influence of the construction and technical parameters on the accuracy of the
forging obtained in the free-forging process has been presented in the paper. The accuracy
analysis, taking into account the limitations imposed by the manufacturing process, has been
carried out. The absolute error of the forging height in the i-th draft has been chosen as the
quality criterion. The measurement reference point has been chosen outside the press
construction and the co-ordinates of the movable press parts in relation to this point have been
determined. The analysis has been carried out for two reference points: in the first case the
reference plane has been located in the upper position of the hammer block (making the upper
reference level), and in the second case – on the level of the lower anvil (making the zero
reference level).
