Лінгвістичні дослідження гендеру в Україні

Abstract

This paper is devoted to the study of the main directions of research into gender in modern Ukrainian linguistics. A conclusion is made that in general, gender linguistic research is focused on gender manifestation in the language and gender impact on communicative behavior. Existing papers are devoted to: word formation, in particular feminisation/ neofeminisation of the names of persons, and functioning; cultural linguistics, cognitive linguistics,‘conceptology’, ethnolinguistics; gender aspects of idiolect; discourse; the communicative aspect, in particular internet communication; the place of gender linguistics in the system of linguistic sciences, methods; gender stereotypesand gender identity; gender sensitivity of the language, sexism; markedness; gender representation in the language; gender issues in translation; terminology. In these research papers, conclusions are made on the basis of the following: research of linguistic phenomena only at one level, even on the basis of one fragment of the language picture of the world (names of persons by profession), in other words – unsystematic analysis; insufficient amount of linguistic material; a “specific” understanding of the quantitive method (the use of quantities obtained from a small amount of text material); while certain gender-marked nominative units are considered, their functioning frequency is not; as a factual base, researchers use phraseological material recorded in corresponding dictionaries, which reflect a certain stage of development of ideas in the linguistic community, but not the dynamics of the system itself; the cherishing of scientific and ‘non-scientific’ mythologemes; stereotypes; politization of the problem
