Handling the pharmaceutical industry waste in Ukraine and the UA
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-10) Popovych, Olena; Vronska, Nataliya; Yatchyshyn, Yuriy; Zaharko, Yaroslava; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The prospects of the pharmaceutical industry development are closely connected with scientific and technological progress. In Ukraine, handling hazardous medical waste is an open question. The rapid development of pharmacy in recent years has created and increased the possibility of the generation and accumulation of pharmaceutical waste at the enterprises and in the environment. Only a few enterprises deal with medical waste disposal. Medical waste recycling requires an extremely high level of attention and carries great risks associated with handling this medical waste. When medical waste is burnt, strong pollutants are released into the atmosphere – carcinogens, furans and dioxins from chlorine halogen compounds, namely dumping of the hazardous material that contains heavy metals, and is likely to cause bioaccumulative hazardous substances to transfer to the environment.

Assessment of the quality and the level of the technogenic load on the surface waters of the Kherson region
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-10) Chugai, Angelina; Odessa State Environmental University
The paper deals with the assessment of a surface water quality in the Kherson region, as well as the assessment of a technogenic load on the surface water bodies by the volumes of the wastewater and pollutants discharges over a long period of time. The problem of supplying the regions of Ukraine with water is urgent for many regions, including the Kherson region. The materials from the Regional reports, Ecological passports on monitoring a state the surface water as well as the data on the volumes of the sewage and pollutants discharges were used as baseline data. Water quality indicators was analyzed using the graphical method of a surface water quality complex assessment and method of estimation of surface water quality, based on hydrochemical parameters. Authors proposed to estimate a level of technogenic load on the surface water based on the calculation of the technogenic load module on the water objects (MWO). The purpose of the work was to assess a quality of the surface waters of the Kherson region as well as to assess a level of technogenic load on the surface water bodies of the region. It is obtained that a surface water quality of the region according to the fishery requirements in the most cases is characterized by classes IVa – IVd, category “very dirty”, by drinking water - class II, category “polluted”, class IIIa, category “dirty”. There were significant exceedances of MPC according to fishery standards in terms of such substances as nitrites, Cr (VI), Cu and Ni. Maximum excesses were noted for Cr (VI) content. Also significant exceedances of the fisheries standards were observed in the content of sulfates, phosphates, Mn, BOC5, mineralization and others. In terms of economic and drinking requirements, the MPC was most often observed in such indicators as mineralization, BOC5 and Ni.With a general increase in water intake there is a decrease in the pollutants discharges. A level of technogenic load on the surface water bodies has significantly decreased. The obtained results are a part of a comprehensive study, which are devoted to the complex assessment of technogenic load on the surface water bodies of the Northwest Black Sea regions.

(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-10) Petruk, Roman; Petrushka, Ihor; Pohrebennyk, Volodymyr; Vinnytsia National Technical University; Lviv Polytechnic National University
In Ukraine, there is a problem of environmentally hazardous handling of used packaging of pesticides and other toxic chemicals and hazardous waste which can pose a serious threat to human health and the environment. The paper presents modern methods of disposal of pesticide packaging in the world and the situation in Ukraine. The Ukrainian and world environmental legislations regulating the problem of pesticide packaging management are analyzed. The scheme of processing and disposal of pesticide containers is proposed. Types and materials from which pesticide packaging is made are analyzed. Methods and equipment for washing of pesticide containers and handling of washing solutions are given. As a result, it is recommended to intensify the process of organizing a system for collecting, certifying and setting up licensed pesticide and other hazardous waste disposal facilities, as well as ensuring state support and the use of the best international experience.

Environmental and resource evaluation of smelter slag
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-10) Malovanyy, Myroslav; Ilyash, Oksana; Povzun, Oleksiy; Stepanets, Oleg; Serga, Tatiana; Gubar, Oksana; Serdyuk, Volodymyr; Lviv Polytechnic National University; Donetsk National Technical University
The gross emission of harmful substances (dust) while unloading the smelter slag of PJSC “Mariupol Iron and Steel Works” into the waste heaps from the dump truck body and during their storage was calculated. The expediency of restoration of blast furnace slag as a siliceous component in cellular concrete was proved. The optimal compositions of cellular concrete mixtures (including the addition of TLS plasticizer – technical lignosulfonate) were determined based on the following criteria: average density of cellular concrete in the dry state and its compressive strength.

The impact of microwave radiation in the processes of carbon dioxide absorption by chlorophyll-producing microalgae
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-10) Dyachok, Vasyl; Mandryk, Solomiia; Huhlych, Serhiy; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The influence of microwave radiation on the rate of СО2 uptake by chlorophyll-producing microalgae of the Chlorella Vulgaris has been established. Experimental dependencies of greenhouse gases absorption by microalgae depending on the impact of microwave electromagnetic (MEM) field have been obtained. The mathematical model of the dynamics of biomass growth of Chlorella Vulgaris microalgae depending on the time of electromagnetic radiation has been constructed. Based on the mathematical model solution and the experimental data obtained, a chart of the dependence of CO2 absorption by microalgae of the Chlorella Vulgaris provided that microwave radiation is present, has been constructed. The optimal value of microwave electromagnetic radiation for the design of technological schemes for the industrial purification of gas emissions from carbon dioxide by biological method has been established.

Modeling of operational control of the oxygen regime of the aquatic ecosystem in the conditions of the Dnieper basin
(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-10) Ponomarenko, Roman; Plyatsuk, Leonid; Tretyakov, Oleg; Ablieieva, Irina; National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine; Sumy State University; Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Education
The article investigates the adequacy of the mathematical model of oxygen regime prediction in the Dnieper basin, based on the classic Streiter-Phelps model. Retrospective analysis of the Dnieper oxygen parameters with further verification of the Streeter- Phelps model adequacy for the Dnieper basin conditions was used. The mathematical model of the dynamics of the integral indices of the ecological state of the reservoir (the Streeter-Phelps model) has been improved by supplementing the corrective coefficients, which allows predicting with sufficient accuracy the change of the Dnieper ecological state.
