Detection of cyanotoxins in Lake Torment (Nova Scotia, Canada)
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Hushchyna, Kateryna; McLellan, Kayla; Nguyen-Quang, Tri; Dalhousie University
This paper will update some information related to cyanotoxins detected in lake Torment, a recreational freshwater body in Nova Scotia, Canada. The goal of our paper is to present the detected toxins released by Toxic Algal Blooms and introducing the method of measurement by using the ELISA test. The results can show a very potential approach of toxin detection which could be applied in Ukraine or other countries where cyanotoxin detection in fresh and marine water ecosystems are still not well developed.

Analysis of ecological safety of emissions from production of carbon products
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Belokon’, Karina; Belokon’, Yuriy; Klymenko, Larysa; Zaporizhzhia National University
The risk to the health of the population from carbon oxide and hydrocarbon waste influence of carbon producing enterprises is estimated in this work. After analyzing the ecological safety of emissions of the carbon producing enterprises it was determined that their activity belongs to the average level of risk and ability to get respiratory organs diseases, sight, cardiovascular and central nervous system diseases for old people, pregnant women and children.

New indicator for the assessment of the life cycle of greenhouse gases emission of household refrigerating appliances
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Khliyeva, Olga; Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies
refrigerating appliances based on the life cycle of GHG emission assessment is presented. A new eco-energy efficiency indicator is proposed. Calculation of the eco-energy efficiency indicator and traditional energy efficiency index for three household refrigerators has been performed. The qualitative difference in the results of comparison of these indicators for the analyzed refrigerators is shown.

Interstitial water of deep, stratified lake as potential source of internal phosphorus loading – implications for preventing eutrophication
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Łopata, Michał; Tandyrak, Renata; Augustyniak, Renata; Parszuto, Katarzyna; Płachta, Anna; Cybulska, Zuzanna; University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn
The paper evaluates the potential impact of internal biogenic pollutants (phosphorus) on the trophic state of the deep, stratified Lake Swiete in Obra, Poland (area 23.3 ha, depth 15.3 m). The amount of phosphorus in interstitial water was analyzed on the basis of spatial studies of 10 cm of surface sediments of bottom sediments. It has been shown that the release of loading accumulated in the water can worsen the trophic state of the lake.

Wood wastes utilization of the Pokuttia–Bukovyna Carpathians as the result of introduction of improved production technology of fuel briquettes
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Masikevych, Andriy; Kolotylo, Mykhailo; Bat, Roman; Masikevych, Yuri; Malovanyy, Myroslav; Atamanyuk, Volodymyr; Petrushka, Kateryna; Bukovinian State Medical University; National Natural Park “Vizhnitsky”; Lvivskyy Beton; Lviv Polytechnic National University
Ecological danger from uncontrolled accumulation of arboreal wastes in the region of Pokuttia– Bukovyna Carpathians has been estimated. The optimum terms of wood wastes drying in an immobile layer have been studied. The optimum conditions for getting fuel brequettes from wood wastes by the pressing method havw been set. Lignin-containing industrial wastes have been used as a relating component. The principal technological scheme has been offered for fuel granules production from wood wastes by the pressing method.

Scientific priorities of the development of environmental research in Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. The life path of Professor Voloskhina O. S.
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Tkachenko, Tetyana; Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture
The article deals with the main scientific priorities of the development of environmental research in Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture under the leadership of the Head of the Department of Labour Protection and the Environment, Doctor of technical sciences, Professor Voloshkina O. S. Current priorities of her scientific research are: management of ecological safety of atmospheric air in the area of motorway overpasses and formation of photochemical smog; increase in the environmental and energy efficiency of “green building"; introduction of “green structures” into the domestic construction in urbocenoses during the reconstruction and construction of residential and industrial premises; ecological issues in the construction industry.

The reaserch of dry chicken manure methanogenesis stability
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Shapovalov, Yevhenii; Salyuk, Anatoliy; Kotynsky, Andrii; Tarasenko, Roman; National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”; National University of Food Technologies; National academy of science of Ukraine
The studies were conducted in batch mode in thirteen repetitions at humidity of 78, 80, 82 and 84 %. The coefficient of variation of methane production varied from 14.84 % to 35.17 % in a mesophilic mode and from 14.4 % to 78.21 % in a thermophilic mode, which means high instability of the process. The moisture content had a much greater effect on the stability of the process in thermophilic conditions than in mesophilic ones.

Black carbon content and distribution in surface sediments from temperate-zone reservoirs (Poland)
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Gruca-Rokosz, Renata; Cieśla, Maksymilian; Rzeszów University of Technology
This paper presents the results of first studies concerning the content of black carbon (BC) (which may be played a significant role in the accumulation of dangerous pollutants) in sediments of three reservoirs located in south-eastern Poland. The BC studies made use of the chemical-thermal oxidation method (CTO-375).

Utilising organic-mineral fertilisers produced from man-madewaste of poultry farms
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Tymchuk, Ivan; Kanda, Maria; Malovanyy, Myroslav; Lviv Polytechnic National University
This research is devoted to ecological problems associated with the development of poultry farming in Ukraine. It provides practical approach to the reduction of ammonium emissions from poultry farms, which results in an opportunity to produce organicmineral fertiliser. Organic-mineral fertilisers obtained this way were tested in field.

Investigation of migration of heavy metals in the soil environment on the example of copper sulfate
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-02-26) Lyuta, Oksana; Sabadash, Vira; Beymuk, Mariya; Gumnitsky, Jaroslav; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The problem of permanent and prolonged pollution of soils by various kinds of pollutants, in particular heavy metals, was analyzed. Experimental investigations of penetration of copper sulfate into a vertical soil profile have been carried out. The adsorption capacity of the sandy environment of copper sulfate was experimentally determined.
