Influence of the SME run Perkins 1104D-44TA engine on the power and torque as well as unitary and hourly fuel consumption
(Lublin, 2018-06-26) Łagowski, P.; Kurczyński, D.; Wcisło, G.; Pracuch, B.; Leśniak, A.; Tomyuk, V.; Kielce University of Technology; University of Agriculture in Krakow; Malopolskie Centre for Renewable Energy Sources “BioEnergia”; Cracow University of Economics; Lviv National Agrarian University
he article presents the results of tests determining the impact of using sunflower oil methyl esters on power and torque as well as unitary and hourly fuel consumption of the Perkins 1104D-44TA engine. Biofuels were produced in the Fuel and Energy Laboratory belonging to the Maopolskie Centrum Energii Odnawialnej (Małopolskie Center for Renewable Energy Sources), while analyzes of the selected fuel parameters were performed both in the above-mentioned laboratory and in the Liquid Biofuels Laboratory at the University of Agriculture in Krakow. Engine tests were carried out on the engine test stand at the Kielce University of Technology. During the tests, the engine worked according to the external speed characteristic. The results of the tests have shown that the engine supplied with the SME achieves slightly lower values of both power and torque than in the case of commercial fuel oil type Ekodiesel Ultra from the ORLEN S.A company. There was also an increase, especially in the case of higher unitary fuel consumption. Hourly fuel consumption was higher when supplied with SME in relation to the diesel fuel supply, although not as much as unitary consumption. The increase in SME consumption at the engine supply can be explained by the lower fuel value of SME, which contains oxygen in its structure.

Influence of Perkins 1104D-44TA motor powered with SME supply on the CO, NOx, THC and O2 emissions
(Lublin, 2018-06-26) Wcisło, G.; Kurczyński, D.; Łagowski, P.; Pracuch, B.; Leśniak, A.; Tomyuk, V.; University of Agriculture in Krakow; Malopolskie Centre for Renewable Energy Sources "BioEnergia”; Kielce University of Technology; Lviv National Agrarian University
The paper presents the results of research on the impact of Perkins 1104D-44TA engine powered with sunflower oil methyl esters and, for comparison, with diesel fuel, in terms of emission of CO, THC, NOx and O2. The tests were carried out on the engine test stand. During the tests, the engine worked according to the external speed characteristics in the range from 1000 to 2200 rpm. The esters used for powering the tested engine were produced using the GW 200 reactor designed and made by Grzegorz Wcisło, one of the co-authors of the paper. The results of the tests carried out showed a decrease in the concentration of carbon monoxide in the exhaust gases, hydrocarbons when powering the engine with sunflower oil esters in relation to powering the engine with diesel fuel. At the same time, the concentration of nitrogen oxides and oxygen in the exhaust gases increased. The reduction of THC and CO emissions is the result of better combustion and afterburning of fuel. However, the increase in the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases results from the fact that in the biofuel structure there is oxygen which is used in combustion and reduces the oxygen demand from the atmosphere. On the other hand, the increase in NOx emissions is the result of a higher combustion temperature than when the engine is powered by diesel fuel.

Influence of brine containing probiotic on the mechanical properties of fruit of selected varieties of field-grown cucumbers during the process of pickling
(Lublin, 2018-06-26) Gorzelany, J.; Migut, D.; Matłok, N.; Styka, A.; Kuźniar, P.; University of Rzeszów
The study presents an assessment of selected mechanical properties of peel and flesh in raw field-grown cucumbers (Cucumis sativus L.), as well as changes occurring in the fruit during the process of pickling, with the use of two types of brine with different composition and with addition of a probiotic. Contents of water in two size fractions of fresh cucumbers were determined using oven-drying method. A puncture test performed with a 5 mm punch probe measured peel and flesh puncture strength and energy as well as apparent modulus of elasticity in raw cucumbers, and following 10, 30, 60 and 90 days of the pickling process. The specified mechanical parameters of cucumber peel and flesh were found to decrease during the pickling process. The reduction in peel and flesh puncture strength is described by a logarithmic function, in energy by linear function and in modulus of elasticity by a power function. The decrease in the puncture strength was slower in the cucumbers subjected to pickling in the brine containing probiotic (B), the decrease in energy was slightly faster in smaller cucumbers (fraction I) subjected to pickling, and during the pickling process in the probiotic containing brine.

Angle of injection impact on the combustion process in a compression-ignition engine
(Lublin, 2018-06-26) Łagowski, P.; Kurczyński, D.; Wcisło, G.; Pracuch, B.; Tomyuk, V.; Kielce University of Technology; Malopolskie Centre for Renewable Energy Sources "BioEnergia”; Lviv National Agrarian University
The article presents the impact of hydrocarbon fuel angle of injection on heat emission characteristics in a compression – ignition AD3.152 engine. The angle of injection has a significant impact on the primary engine operating parameters and combustion process indicators, which include the proportion of combustion which occurs according to kinetic and diffusion models, heat emission rate and the combustion process duration. The characteristics describing emission of a relative heat quantity were determined on the basis of an analysis of actual, indicator diagrams averaged over 100 runs, under the assumption that the combustion process ends by the time the exhaust valve opens. During the test, the engine operated according to an external speed characteristic. Tests were carried out for three fuel angles of injection: 13, 17 and 21 crankshaft rotation degrees.

(Lublin, 2018-06-26) Zhezhnych, P.; Shilinh, A.; Lviv Polytechnic National University
Rapid pace of technological progress puts higher education institutions (HEI) tasks that require them not only quick reaction, but also the ability to work ahead. Higher education institutions, that formulating a proposal for educational specialties, are oriented towards the market of educational services, but not always take into account the demand for them among potential consumers of these services and their interests. The process of planning the provision of educational services for the HEI is an important aspect for its effective performance in the educational services market. Consequently, the purpose of this work is to formulate linguistic approaches to planning the provision of educational services in HEI, which taking into account the peculiarities of the formation of demand and proposals for these services. The factors influencing the formation of demand for educational services and proposals for their implementation are analyzed in this paper. Identification the motivational intentions of potential university entrants in the educational Web communities' posts is also contained in the article.

New technologies for extending shelf life of birch tree sap
(Lublin, 2018-06-26) Bilek, M.; Cebula, E.; Krupa, K.; Lorenc, K.; Adamowicz, T.; Sosnowski, S.; University of Rzeszów; MA, Białystok, Poland
Three experiments were carried out to assess the effectiveness of the so-called new technologies in extending birch tree sap shelf life. In the first one, microfiltration of birch sap was carried out using 0.22 μm, 0.45 μm and 0.8 μm filters. In the second experiment, ultraviolet radiation was applied for 5, 15 and 45 minutes. In the third experiment ultrasound was applied with one-, two-, three- and four-fold use. Regardless of the pore diameter, all the microfiltered samples were nonperishable for at least a month at room temperature. The efficacy of ultrasound was also demonstrated. The four-fold use of ultrasound proved to be the most effective and prolonged the shelf life of birch sap from one to two days at room temperature and from four to twelve days in refrigeration conditions. In turn, the use of ultraviolet radiation did not extend the shelf life of birch sap, although in refrigeration conditions the clouding was significantly inhibited. However, there is no doubt that among the so-called new technologies, microfiltration is the most advantageous in extending shelf life of birch sap and has perspectives for use in food industry.
