Assessment of heavy metal contamination of the technoecosystem of the Kakhovka main canal of the Kakhovka irrigation system
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-03-20) Khokhlova, Liudmyla; Lukashev, Dmytro; Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
In the present study, the authors demonstrate the accumulation of heavy metals in water and soft tissues of bivalve mollusks (Dreissena polymorpha, Dreissena bugensis) in the Kakhovka Main Canal within the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions (Ukraine) in the summer season (July–August 2018). The average metal concentrations in water decrease in the following order: Ni>Zn>Cr>Co>Cu>Cd. On the whole, the accumulation of metals in soft tissues of the investigated bivalve mollusk species was higher than in the samples of water, since Dreissena are effective bio-accumulators. The average metal concentrations in soft tissues decrease in the following order: Zn>Cr>Ni>Cu>Co>Cd. At the end of the canal, at the 132nd km (Zaporizhzhia region), where older individuals prevailed, heavy metals were accumulated most – 159.04 mg/kg.

Conceptual approach to minimalization of environmental hazard for the Pokutsko-Bukovinian Carpathians
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-03-20) Masikevych, Andriy; Bukovinian State Medical University
The existing conceptual approaches to assessment of the environmental security of the Eastern Carpathians have been analyzed. The original vision of the mechanism for maintaining sustainable development in the Pokutsko-Bukovinian Carpathians mountain ecosystem is proposed. The methodological approach used to determine the ecological status and the level of environmental safety of mountain areas is based on the use of sanitary-ecological indicators as sensitive determiners of environmental changes under the influence of the anthropogenic factor. For comparison of changes in the mountain ecosystem, the territories of the nature reserve of the mountain region were used as a standard. A system of engineering and management solutions aimed at minimizing environmental hazards in the study area has been developed.

Analysis of the environmental impact of unsorted cullet
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-03-20) Hurets, Larysa; Kotolevets, Anastasiia; Miakaieva, Hanna; Miakaiev, Oleksandr; Sumy State University
Prediction of cullet accumulation at municipal solid waste landfills was carried out by linear and multiple regression methods. Over time, the amount of waste at the landfills will increase and the soil condition will deteriorate due to Na+ leaching This is confirmed by the experimental study of leaching of sodium ions from the cullet surface of different fractions with pure water and solutions with pH = 4.8 and pH = 9.2.

Improvement of environmental safety of agricultural systems as a result of encapsulated mineral fertilizers implementation
(Lviv Politechnic Publishing House, 2019-03-20) Synelnikov, Serhiy; Soloviy, Khrystyna; Tymchuk, Ivan; Malovanyy, Myroslav; Nahurskyy, Oleh; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The impact of mineral fertilizers on an agricultural system has been analyzed. It has been shown that encapsulated fertilizers of prolonged action are the effective type of fertilizers that enable to achieve rich harvests and simultaneously consistently reduce the load on the agricultural system. Balance calculations on evaluating the agricultural system contamination level in case of implementing granulated and encapsulated fertilizers have been carried out. It has been shown that in case of using encapsulated fertilizers instead of granulated fertilizers, the environmental contamination caused by excessive nutrition elements of mineral fertilizers indigested by the plants decreases almost fourfold. Pilot experiments on using such cultures as potato, soy, and maize have proven that the effectiveness of using encapsulated fertilizers in comparison with granulated fertilizers under condition of less expenses of mineral fertilizer is 30–50 % higher.
