Cleaning heavy metal pollution of wastewater with compost application
(Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House, 2016) Benjared, Ramadan; Füleky, György; Szent István University
In the present study, a kinetic experiment investigated the adsorption of Zn, Cu and Cd from aqueous systems onto different compost materials. The treatment has been attempted via batch experiments under various solution concentrations. It probes mainly three adsorbents which their characteristics are as follow, 1. Felgyő is a green waste and sewage sludge. 2. Garé is a communal sewage sludge, slurry mud and chicken manure with straw. 3. Sioagárd is green biomass/ bio waste. The metal initial concentration solutions was ranging from 0 to 50000 μg/g as contaminants and 13 samples were prepared of mixing 10 ml of liquid with 1g of compost as one sample ,accordingly the fusion placed in shaker for 24 hours thus the combination was centrifuged, filtered and the heavy metal concentration was determined with atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Each heavy metal treatment was replicated three times for quality assurance and the kinetic data were well described by Langmuir model, hence Curves were plotted for the adsorption of heavy metal on the adsorbent. The maximum amount sorbate of heavy metal (Amax mgkg-1 ) is 44245 for Cu by Garé compost followed by Cd 40107 and less for Zn with record of 26803 by the same compost. Higher amounts were sorbed from Cd, Cu and less from Zn solutions. Characterization of the adsorbents was one of the key focal areas of experiment investigation. The result indicated that adsorption efficiency decreased with increase in the initial solution concentration. At lower heavy metal concentrations practically all of the heavy metals ions were removed by the compost application whereas in higher concentrations the fix value ratio of heavy metal ions decreased to 40 %, however the amount of the compost per sample remained with 1g.

Actual ecologically friendly solving of problem of municipal sludge
(Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House, 2016) Kalinichenko, Kira; Nikovskaya, Galina; Ulberg, Zoya; F. D. Ovcharenko Institute of Biocolloidal Chemistry
A new eco-friendly process for rational utilization of toxic municipal sludge wastes by their transformation into fertilizer for land application has been developed. It includes promotion of alkaline vector of heterotrophic microbial metabolism in high stable biocolloidal sludge system by adding special nutrients, heavy metals leaching and sludge suspension separating under the action of microbial metabolites. Each of the phases (sediment and bioextract) can serve as a fertilizer after procedure of additional stabilization. The fertilizers obtained satisfy the EU limits for the materials of agricultural utilization. The vegetation experiments have shown that the fertilizer application results in tenfold increase of plant harvest and provides high quality of target product.

Assessment of the ecological state of water resources of Lviv city solid waste landfill
(Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House, 2016) Politylo, R.; Koziy, S.; Lviv Polytechnic National University
This work is dedicated questions of assessment of the ecological state of water resources of Lviv city solid waste landfill. The general characteristic of solid waste management in Ukraine and other countries was examined. Ecological and geographical characteristics of Lviv city solid waste landfill were conducted. The determination of elemental composition in samples of water resources was done at Lviv city solid waste landfill and surrounding areas. According to results of the research work the assessment of the ecological state of water resources of Lviv city solid waste landfill was done.

Combining RapidEye satellite images and forest inventory data for assesment of forest biomass
(Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House, 2016) Myroniuk, Viktor; Bilous, Andrii; National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine
The paper presents the results of estimation of growing stock volume and live biomass in forest stands using combination of forest inventory measurements, multispectral satellite images RapidEye and digital elevation model (DEM). In a context of classification of remote sensing data we considered two nonparametric methods – k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN) and Random Forest (RF). We concluded that RF outperforms kNN method nevertheless both of them provide quite accurate estimation of mean value of growing volume in a range of ±5 m3·ha-1, different components of aboveground biomass - ±1–2 t·ha-1.

Determination of the activation energy of the reaction of photosynthesis in chlorophyll synthesizing microalgae
(Lviv Polytechnic Publishing House, 2016) Dyachok, Vasyl; Katysheva, Viktoriia; Lviv Polytechnic National University
The dynamics of absorption of carbon dioxide at corresponding temperature by microalgae Chlorella was studied. The results of experimental research will allow to calculate the energy of activating photochemical reaction and other values of kinetics of increase of microalgae within the limits of the investigating temperatures. The analytical dependence of coefficient of growth biomass on temperature within the limits of the investigating temperature was established. The stages of transport of carbon dioxide from air to internal volume of microalgae cell was determined through literature. The optimal terms of their cultivation was selected and analyzed. The results showed that it is possible to forecast the technological scheme of cleaning of gas emissions from carbon dioxide by biological method.
