Item Technical and technological aspects of biological reclamation using anthropogenic organic waste in composition with sewage sludge(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2023-02-28) Tymchuk, Ivan; Lviv Polytechnic National UniversityA systematic modern analysis of the state of waste management in the country encourages the search for more rational, efficient and cost-effective ways of processing and recycling solid waste. The inclusion of sewage sludge as a raw material in technologies for processing substrates makes it possible to solve the problems of accumulation and negative environmental impact of this hazardous waste, in addition to the problems of recycling. Promising strategies for the use of sewage sludge in combination with other components for reclamation purposes are considered: the production of substrates by direct mixing without any physical and chemical transformation of the substrate before application for reclamation purposes; composting to obtain reclamation compost; preliminary anaerobic biodegradation with the formation of biogas and subsequent use of digestate for reclamation purposes. The conditions for the application of the strategies, their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed.Item Analysis of the main methods of solid waste management(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2021-06-01) Storoshchuk, Ulana; Malovanyy, Myroslav; Tymchuk, Ivan; Luchyt, Liubov; Lviv Polytechnic National UniversityThe world’s growing population and, as a result, higher consumption of goods and services have led to a rapid increase in municipal solid waste. This situation creates serious environmental problems that require clear strategies for managing this waste. Improving the efficiency of recycling to restore quality materials, saving resources and maintaining waste in landfills are among the most pressing problems of our time. The article considers the existing methods of solid waste management in order to select the most optimal waste management system in the context of sustainable development.Item Composting as one of the prospective methods of recycling the organic component of municipal solid waste(Видавництво Львівської політехніки, 2020-02-24) Storoshchuk, Ulana; Malovanyy, Myroslav; Tymchuk, Ivan; Lviv Polytechnic National UniversityIn the conditions of constant deterioration of the environment, municipal solid waste management (MSW) in Ukraine remains one of the most pressing challenges in environmental safety because of its significant accumulation in landfills and the lack of effective mechanisms for its disposal. Approximately 40–50 % of municipal solid waste is organic, so the removal of this part of waste from landfills through composting and conversion of waste into secondary material resources will significantly reduce the environmental load on existing and potentially planned landfills. Therefore, the choice of promising technologies for the disposal of organic waste is one of the major tasks to ensure environmental safety. One of the effective strategies for dealing with excessive amounts of organic waste and one of the best and most affordable technologies for the waste recycling system is composting.
