In the paper peculiarities of encyclopaedias and dictionaries that cover the issues
of document studies as well as adjacent disciplines are characterized; the value of
reference publications for forming the content of scientific information in the
sphere is identified and the perspective of their usage in the academic process in
universities of Ukraine is described.
