Abstract

The results of the study of gears with involute and sinusoidal teeth are presented herein. The subjects of the comparative analysis were the stresses at the root of the tooth from the side of the applied load and from the side of the unloaded profile, contact stresses, and elastic deformations under the action of a given torque. The values of these parameters were determined for a range of pressure angles, from 20° to 40°. To this end, three-dimensional geometric models of the gears of these gearing systems with different pressure angles and asymmetry coefficients were created in SolidWorks. The results of the study showed that, in general, gears with asymmetric teeth have higher parameters than symmetrical gears for all the indicators studied. At the same time, sinusoidal asymmetric gears are superior to involute gears in terms of tooth root stresses, elastic deformations and contact strength. Concurrently, sinusoidal asymmetric gears exhibit superiority over involute gears about tooth root stresses, elastic deformations, and contact strength. It has been demonstrated that gears with a profile described by an asymmetric sinusoidal curve exhibit a higher load capacity, greater resistance to cyclic fatigue, and reduced noise during operation. In summary, these gears will provide better indicators of their operational reliability. In addition, the production of such gears by the radial-circular method is the most efficient, versatile and involves minimal production costs.
