Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is dynamically changing the book market, opening up new opportunities in the areas of production, distribution, and consumption of publications. At the same time, however, it poses technological, ethical, as well as legal challenges. This paper reviews selected uses of AI in the book industry in Poland involving optimization within areas such as production processes (including the design of book covers, illustrations, and text content), distribution and consumption processes (including predicting reader preferences, personalizing recommendations, chatbots for conversations with readers), and market strategies.
