Abstract

This article examines the history of the study of the Mithraic cult in the Roman province of Dacia. The research outlines key phases of archaeological exploration, the discovery and interpretation of mithraea, and the historiographical development of the field. Particular attention is given to the contributions of Romanian scholars in the 20th and 21st centuries, who analyzed the cult from archaeological, epigraphic, and socio-religious perspectives. The spread of Mithraism among soldiers and provincial elites reveals patterns of religious integration and identity construction within the Roman Empire. The study contributes to broader discussions on Roman provincial religion and cultural assimilation.
