Reconstruction of historical maps: an example of šiauliai economy

Abstract

Historical maps provide interesting opportunities for research into historical changes in the environment. The limited availability and accuracy of historical cartographic material limits the scope of analytical research and complicates the choice of methodology. The question that arises in this context is, at least, how accurate historical maps must be to be able to use spatial analysis. Purpose of the paper: Reconstruct historical maps using GIS technology. Cartographic historical maps provide a lot of information about the history of the object under consideration. The Economy Šiauliai is the unification of the state estates of the Northern Lithuania and the largest state land of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (hereafter referred to as the GDL).
