In this work we investigate heterometallic Mn/V compounds and their ability to catalyze photochemical water oxidation. A novel synthetic route is proposed for the preparation of Mn/V complexes in a one-pot reaction, following the “direct synthesis” approach, using water as a solvent. Two Mn/V compounds, (NH4)2[Mn2(HGly)(H2O)10 [V10O28]∙(HGly)∙2H2O (1) and (NH4)2[Mn( -HAla)(H2O)5]2[V10O28]∙2H2O (2) have been synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-Ray analysis, FTIR and EPR spectroscopy. For 1 and 2 photochemical water oxidation has been investigated in a system using Ru(bpy)3 2+ as a photosensitizer.uk_UA
