Abstract
Spain’s aspirations to increase its role in continental and global integration processes in the context of financial crisis and reconfiguration of international power centers are discussed in the article. It is revealed that the informal representative forum the G20 is an essential element of the system of global management of economic processes. The main purpose of this article is to evaluate of participation of Spain as a permanent invitee of the G20. Spain has been presented at the enlarged meetings of the G-20 in Washington (United States, November 2008), London (United Kingdom, April 2009), Pittsburgh (United States, September 2009), Toronto (Canada, June 2010), Seoul (Seous Korea, November 2010), Cannes (France, November 2011), Los Cabos (Mexico, June 2012), Saint Petersburg (Russia, September 2013), Brisbane (Australia, November 2014), Serik (Turkey, November 2015), Hangzhou (China, September 2016) and Hamburg (Germany, July 2017). The 2010 Seoul summit decided that only Spain would attend as a permanent guest. This status provides the country with access to contacts and information. Madrid has always shown its commitment to multilateralism in international relations. Spanish society has strongly advocated the achievement of unity in the EU and deeper political integration. The political and financial elite of the parliamentary monarchy is convinced that most of the transnational challenges of our time, such as economic globalization, financial instability, climate change, separatism and terrorism, mass migration and cyber security, must be resolved only through the strengthening of international cooperation.
