Національний склад слухачів Вищої технічної школи (політехнічної школи) на тлі етносоціальних трансформацій у Львові в 1867–1914 рр.

Abstract

У публікації здійснено аналіз національного складу слухачів Вищої технічної школи у Львові протягом 1867–1914 рр. Безпосередній вплив на формування національного складу студентів освітнього закладу мали етносоціального процеси у самому місті Львові. Окреслено тенденції формування технічної інтелігенції Галичини переважно із польської частини мешканців краю. Водночас, євреї та українці-русини, які складали меншість студентів-техніків, згодом значно слабше були залучені до технічного і промислового розвитку Львова та західноукраїнських земель загалом.

In the publication analyzes the national composition of students of the Higher Technical School in Lviv during 1867–1914. Ethno-social processes in the city of Lviv had a direct influence on the formation of the national composition of students of the educational institution. The dominance of the Polish population of Galicia directly influenced the percentage of representation of Polish students at the Technical Academy and the Higher Technical School in Lviv. The rapid increase in the number of technical students from a few hundred to 2 thousand in the early XX century, only strengthened the position of the Polish part of the population among the technical intelligentsia. It was the Polish-engineers who were intensively transforming the industrial potential of Galicia, which was reflected on all sides of the life of Lviv and the region. At the same time, Jews and Ukrainians-Ruthenians, who made up a minority of technical students, were later significantly less involved in the technical and industrial development of Lviv and Western Ukrainian lands in general. The monopolization of the specialties of the technical direction by the Poles caused an overflow of political struggle beyond the limits of democratic election procedures to the central and regional self-government bodies. National competition has been colored by stiff opposition from national groups, including in the economic sector, which resulted in a sharpening of Polish- Ukrainian and Polish-Jewish relations in Galicia in the early 20th century.
