Abstract

The trade press of the Galician printers originates from Lviv. One of the extraordinary events in this city, connected with the activities of the city-wide Committing printers, was the establishment of its own magazine “Czcionka” (“Letter”). The publication received enormous popularity among the workers of lithographs, printing houses, foundries, paper and other printing enterprises of Lviv. The first issue of the newspaper appeared in early 1872. The newspaper had four pages of a small format, resembling the size of a regular student notebook. At first it went out twice a month (1st and 15th numbers), and from 13 numbers – weekly. The newspaper was printed in Polish in various printing houses of the city.
